Question Is my Escort a mexican?

From what I so far my is not made in the UK or anywhere in europe so it might be either mexican or US. Does anybody know the VIN codes on a Mexico and US?

You stated you have a 1989 Escort.

If the VIN starts with "1", it was built in the US. If it starts with "3", it was built in Mexico.

If you're in Minnesota, how did you get an AWD Escort? All US market Escorts are front-wheel drive.

I can safely say that there are a few Grey market Esco's running about here in the US. My friend has one himself. Nice little monster.
