i have a 1999 ford escort se and i was wandering if i would be able to fit a small block into it? can anybody help me out?

You could fit many options if you have the time , money and ability /skills , the sky's the limit .

i dont have any mods in it right now it needs a new block an i want to put a small block in to it

The engine compartment was designed for a 4 cylinder, a small block 8 is twice the weight and size, which means a lot of cutting and welding just to get it to fit. The transverse transmission will also be bigger which means you'll actually end up extending out the front end as well as putting in heavier springs to support the weight and a mods to the steering to accommodate the added power and weight. Essentially, you're almost making a funny car out of the Escort. I'm nt sure if the engine compartment can accommodate anything bigger than an inline 4.
