Question Newbie needs 1.9 HO advice

I'm new here as I just bought the car. A 1987 Mercury Lynx XR3 (a.k.a. 87 Escort GT). It has the 1.9 HO motor and I was wondering if there is anyway to squeeze out a few more horses without seriously modifying the engine. I mean like no Turbos or nitrous or cams just little stuff to boost power a bit.

Re: Newbie needs 1.9 HO advice

Tune the timing to the point it will start-up with little effert of turning the key which gives it more RPM's but your gas mileage will go down.
