No headlights

After sorting out all the little jobs in my MK1 2ltr conversion I though I was almost ready to get a roadworthy when I was checking some electical things (horn, reversing light, blinkers, etc) and I discovered I have no head lights or parkers at all. Tail lights and number plate light are fine as are the dash lights. I took out the head lights and checked the connections with a test light and they are powered up but the lights don't come on. Anyone got any idea why (they did work before the little motor came out and the battery went in the boot)? I'm thinking possibly a bad earth as the brake lights don't work all the time unless you move the light fitting around inside the tail light housing. Could the brake light problem be contributing? It really has me stumped (the fuses are all ok and have all just been replaced) If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: No headlights

Sounds like an earth problem with the brake lights.

A trick we did with my old esky (Mk2) was to disconnect the battery, take all the fuses out and clean the contacts with a wire brush. gives the fuses a nice clean connection!

Do you have a test light? is there any loose connections from the headlight loom throught to the dash?
