confused please help laser wont start

i have a 1990 ford laser and i went to start it in the morning and it would not start, i had been having a problem for about 2 days before it stalled for good it was having trouble starting but after a few minutes would start. now it will turn over and there is compression and resistance in the motor but no go i have even tried pouring fuel down the throat but it still wont go, but after about ten minutes of the fuel sitting in throat it will make an attempt but that is it. i checked the timing belt ALL GOOD, i have also checked for spark, plenty there. i am totally at a loss as to why this car stopped running if anyone can help with similar problems or if anyone wants to throw any ideas there i would really appreciate it

thanks........ jen
