Do you mean the all-alloy Rover 3.5L V8?

Re: Possible engine choices for Mk II Escort

If you go the rover 3.5 V8 im pretty sure a lot of them had a 5sd on the back.

P76 4.4 are a grunty little motor, when set right they put out some good horses.

Ive seen an article in classic ford of a bubble arched grey Mk1 with a rover in it, it was about 360Bhp and was doing 12 or 13 second passes.

P.S. I think the rover would be a bit cheaper than that Gemini :-)

Re: Possible engine choices for Mk II Escort

Why not use the 2.0 pinto and turbo it. I'm doing it at the moment.

Garrett T3 on home built manifold.
By the way the Orange mk2 RS2000 in your avitar was my m8's car.
He's just sold it. That was running a 2.0 Cosworth N/A motor through 48 webbers, putting out 220 to 240 bhp. Rev'd to 9000rpm+

Re: Possible engine choices for Mk II Escort

Best price/performance would be to put the Cossie YB head onto the MKII Pinto block, apart from that the 3.5L Rover V8 would be alright for street use, or for racing a complete Cosworth YB or Mazda (MX-5) B6 would be the go.
