confused Sierra 1800cvh nightmare

I recently put a replacement short motor into a 1992 single point injection sierra, and I cant get the blasted thing to run worth a damn. I damaged the lambda sensor, and replaced it, but im still getting the same problem, which is:- Car will start, but idle lumpy as if it is missing, wont rev properly and wont drive above 20 mph. It seems as if the ecu is on limp home mode, but I dont know how to reset this. HELP!!!! I'm rapidly losing hair with the amount that i am pulling out
