starting,motor power problem

i have a 1993 1.9 escort 5spd.when the car would sit overnite it wont start. i replaced the alternator with a rebuilt one and a new battery and only getting 12.5v when car running. so i took the alternator back got another with the same result. took the car to a mech. and he told me the alternator is bad. so i bought a new one. it didn't do much better. i cleaned all the terminals from the alternator to the battery. other symtoms are no throttle response, lack of power. the car accelerates faster when 25% throttle is aplied then 100% by alot.

Re: starting,motor power problem

sounds like you have a power dran in your system somewhere...yeah I know that's a no brainer...but you might check the power seatbelt system...I had a similar problem when the motor was going out on my driver's side belt....as for the other problem, have you had a good tune up on the car to include fuel filter, throttle body cleaning, plugs and wires...they may help you track down the problem if not clear it up....your injectors may also be getting a bit clogged....if so yu can try the in tank celaning stuff...but I would recommend a professional job on that, they will usually use a special system machine to do the job...but do the other items first to make sure

one thing else I did not think of right off hand...EGR valve...that can do some work on your power if it is not operating correctly
