Hi every1
Ive just heard from a friend where i can buy a nice neat TX3 with low kms for really cheap, but hase been overheated and according to what the mechanic told the owner, the pistons have shrunk and the engine is stuffed. How hard is it to rebuild the engine myself and if not how much would i be looking at for an exchange?

engines are everywhere...id say just transplant another one in, prefabley newer. Could even go turbo if you wanted to.

Its a turbo now, just trying to see whether it is feasable to buy it and do all this work? Do later model engines bolt in easily?

tell us a few things about the car ?
like.. what year model ? kf shape or ke shape ?1.6 or 1.8?
both models u can get a straight bolt in motor , but the 1.8l turbo motor are usually easier to source than the 1.6.problly looking at $1000 for a 1.8 (only motor)

Its a 1987 model, white with the grey skirts, i think its a 1.6 litre, manual, low kms and rust free! it looks to be in very good condition so if i could source a motor of if anyone knos where to get one in good nick for cheap would be very much appreciated!

Talk to an engine importer and see what they can do for you, and what warranty they give.

You usually get 3-6 months warranty when buying an imported engine.
If you are in sydney there are a few like SSS automotive in girraween,jap imports and a few more.

You could get a replacement B6-T(1.6 DOHC Turbo) which you would have in it now, you could get one of those pretty easily. Plug n play.
Or if you want to go for something with more balls, get the BP-T(1.8 DOHC Turbo)
The only mod with putting in the bigger BP-T is moving the drivers side engine mount an inch or so.

The BP-T conversion is really popular for the KC-KE series :)

hi im looking at purchasing a 1991 FORD LASER KF GL and wondering is it that hard to buy a Turbo for it. Can u put the same engine as the TX3's have into this. Ive been searching in Qld for awhile for a Tx3 and they are hard to come across. If you know of anyone selling one in brisbane can u get back to me on this and could u please give me your opinion on this Laser thanx
