*** Unichip Challenge***

greetings Peter ( APS )
i have heard a lot of conflictiong reports about your UNICHIP, i have done a little reseach on piggyback intercepters & i belive that they all opperate on the same basic principal

i am ready to fit an Interceptor to my Ute, do you belive that the Unichip will benifit me in the search for additional power

My Ute is running Pacemaker Hedders, SS Induction Throttle Body & Cold Air Intake, Batten Performance Under Drive Pulleys

i have seen your development work on the XR-6 Turbo's & am impressed by your quallity of workmanship, your own XR-6 Turbo ute is a piece of artwork on wheels that i have seen run an 11.35 @ Calder

do you belive you can help my 290 Kw Ute to run better times at the track

regards
rod

G'day Rod, I think I may have met you at calder a few times (if I am thinking of the right person) and by memory your ute has run some quick times. I would be interested to know what time and mph you have run to date.

Thanks for your kind words regarding the APS xr6t ute, We have not run the ute since December though we hope to be out at calder very soon (the ute has undergone some serious development work) to run some very quick times, always easier said than done.

Now back to your questions. I am positive that we will be able to achieve a higher state of engine tune for you via Unichip computer and dyno tuning, though how much additional power we can generate through ignition and air/fuel mixture adjustments will depend on your current state of engine tune.

I would certainly be prepared to see what can be achieved by Unichip tuning, obviously if we can generate more power across the entire RPM range the ute should run a quicker 1/4 mile time at a higher MPH.

If you seriously want to find out if the ute can run quicker, there's only one way to find out for sure and that's to give APS the ute and see what we can achieve.

Peter

Re: *** Unichip Challenge***

Look foreward to the outcomes guys (although rod, you could always do whats been done to your other toy...)

Peter, you have mentioned in the past of you guys working on a twin-turbo setup for development on the 5.4's...have you looked into this yet?
Also, you also mentioned the upgraded Unichip would have access to change rpm's, idles etc..is this far away?

Cheers

Rodderz, We shelved the BA Ford twin turbo system in favour of a twin turbo product to suit the LSI (big oversea's order) as we had serious concerns that the product would be too expensive for Ford aftermarket customers.

I would have liked to have completed the TT for the BA (we did start the project) maybe in the future if consumer demand is sufficient.

We have developed software to remove the speed limiter and lift engine rpm though we have not yet decided if and how we will deal with this technology.

what would you be expecting, i would estimate my car to be making around 240 Rwkw in its pressent state

if i am not happy with the results on the dyno or at the track, what cost's am i up for or is it once fitted you own it

HI Peter,
if you change the approach with the new Unichip and start to intercept the injector signal directly, it could increase the Rev limiter is this correct???
if so will we encounter any problems in the drivability of the car....
or well it be best to have bigger cams etc: for this to work properley...
thx..

Re: *** Unichip Challenge***

Peter (APS)

Just enquiring if there is a Unichip upgrade for the 2.0 Zetec fitted to the Aus Mondeo? Reason being that I need to run the "factory" ECU for the conversion (Zetec into escort) and was wondering what state of tune is achievable with standard intake manifold etc.

Cheers

Paul

GT 522, It would be nice to sit on the fence (at calder park of course) though I believe that we can help this ute go quicker. You never know for sure, that is until you have a good look at the engine and current state of engine tune.

If the air/fuel mixtures are now very lean (due to other mods being installed) there may be only a small power increase to be achieved (I guess it all counts when you go drag racing) though there may be some good power to be found with optimum ignition timing across the entire rpm and load sites.

Only one way to find out.

Peter
