Re: *** Unichip Challenge***

Peter, the Boss engines you have tuned with Unichip thus far, what is the average gain in kw's?

What points in the rpv range gains the most, bottom end, top end, all over, and would there be more kw increase at some points than overall at peak rpm

Also would mods such as exhaust & cold air intakes make the tuning more viable as there is more air to be drawn in, or will it not make much of a difference?

Cheers
Rodderz

The power gain depends very much on the individual engine, I'd say a 15kW gain would be a real average power gain we see from the stock engine, though we have seeen gains of up to 20kW from stock GT's.

The power gain is mainly in the mid to upper rpm range and it seems as if this boss engine is very sensitive to the fuel brand, we have seen the best results on mobil 98 ron synergy fuel.

Mate I cant tell you what other mods work well on the boss engine, to be honest I have never taken much notice of the mods and most of the cars we have tuned are in stock condition.

I have no doubt that a good set of headers and free flowing exhaust would work well on the xr8/GT. Most of our time has been spent developing parts for the xr6t, sorry I cant tell you more about the boss mods.

HI Peter,
if you change the approach with the new Unichip and start to intercept the injector signal directly, it could increase the Rev limiter is this correct???
if so will we encounter any problems in the drivability of the car....
or well it be best to have bigger cams etc: for this to work properley...
thx

1) Mate I never guess about power levels, one way to find out for sure, lets measure the power on the dyno (the lie detector) and find out for sure.

2) You would not believe how gentle the Unichip real time tuning method is on the engine and drivetrain, in addition we have a serious cooling fan, not a toy like you see in normal tuning shops.

3) Rod if we dont achieve a decent gain we would not deliver the car to you with the unichip in the first place, we would remove the computer and return the car to original condition. Worst case scenaro for you is you would have to pay for the install of the computer and tuning work which is approx $550. That said I am confident that we can improve the power given that you are on good 98 ron fuel and that the engine is healthy.

Rod Bottom line, there is only one way to achieve the best power result and that's to custom tune dyno your engine to squeeze every last kW from the boss, why dont you give it a go.........I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

Well what can I say, if your prepared to give us the ute we will do our best to give you every last kW thats left in the boss engine.

Let me know when your ready to go and we will get organised. By the way what premium fuel do you normally use.

We can lift the rev limit now on the BA Ford though we have not yet decided if we will release this product. I think the boss engine will put a leg out of bed very quickly if given a big REV.
