upgrading engine on 87 escort GT! NEED EXPERT ADVISE!!!!!

ok so here is my problem! my car is just not fast enough. and i am going to replace the engine to make it faster. a problem i am encountering though is that the car is front wheel drive, and the 5.0 engine i had hoped to put in it is for rear wheel drive vehicles. so i was wondering what my other options would be?? i need to make my car faster, and the current engine in it wont be able to do that for me. i live in seattle WA, and was wondering where i could go to purchase and have installed a better engine! thanks

Yikes 5.0 in an Escort. I guess this is a 5.0 V8. That is alot of motor for an Escort.

What is the car to be used for.
If it is a daily driver then maybe you should look at turbo charging an Escort engine.
