Hi Guys

I currently drive a Ford Falcon EA 5sp, but having moved back to the city I was wondering what is one of the best laser,TX3 to buy?

Keeping in mind good performance with fair fuel consumption around 8/10L per 100km

Also how many 4wd turbo lasers are around the place? And what do they do you?

pick of the bunch is the latest model 93 4wd turbo. they fetch from 7k upwards. there are no unmodified ones around (hens teeth)

they can fetch big biccies 13k-15k for good low km ones but these are all modified.

it will be for sale soon but is not really meant as a daily driver(suspension hard 17inch rims, modified engine (custom everything) but if anyones interested!!


by the way, if you eventually buy one the gearboxes arnt the strongest so dont plan on doing high RPM launches !! also there are two bushes on the shifter cables that wear out if the gearshift feels "funny" its probablyy them. (thats what blew mine!!).

they go hard 15.6 0-400m standard (117kw) and handle like they're on rails.


if your like me though you wont be able to stop playing with it... a long way down the track and alot of money the things got 120kw at all four wheels close to 200kw at the flywheel!!

why did ford stop making them? Why not continue the model and evolve it into a FPV rex beater.

they were actually made by mazda in japan and fully imported to australia as a ford. in japan the equivilant would be the GTX familia. the "up spec" model was called the familia GTR and it came out standard with 154 kw !!!they stopped bringing them to australia when mazda discontinued production in japan.
the gtx in japan had 134kw due to the different maping in the ecu.
you can up the power in the laser by changing the computer and using better fuel a total mod cost of less than $200!!!

incidently the laser was sold by ford in japan as well. in 1991 the tx3 4wd was the fastest car that ford sold in australia...
