What is wrong with my cd player (ford escort LX 89)

I have a ford escort lx 89 and my radio is out it is not a fuse my brother checked and its fine. Could a wire have gotten knocked loose? if so where could I find it to plug it back in?

Also my Alternator needs to be replaced and the battery light is red all the time even though the battery is BRAND new I heard that's the alternator doing that, could that also be affective the radio with a bad alternator?

Does LX stand for LYNX? I saw a repair book that said ford escort lx 81-89 and it said lynx.

LX is just the trim level / equipment level , basically its better than the standard model.Using the car with ignition light on will drain your new battery .You will have to test to see if you have power to the set .Is it the original Ford set ? This is the wiring for your car if it's the year you state though you seem unsure of that .

Sorry no clue what you mean by original ford set, the instruction booklet says 1988 1/2 but inscribed under the hood is 1989 so I assume it's 99.

The radio is newer not installed by me but a newer like probaly past 2008.

Lynx was the Mercury version of the car. Since the fuse is ok, have your brother verify power is getting to the radio, if so, I guess it's time for a new radio.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
