ZX2 Battery issue

So a while back I had the battery replaced in my ZX2 and when they reconnected the little black box on the negative terminal of the battery it looks like they cut across the connector to make it longer so that it would reach the slightly taller battery they put in. Ever since then, the car has slowly been loosing electrical systems. First the alarm, radio, and keyless entry went out... and I just lived with that for a couple months, but now I am getting the battery indicator light coming on and as time is going on it's getting slower to start other lights like low fuel and airbags are popping on at times.

I think I've read that some people have said this little black box is pointless and to just cut it off and wire the wires straight down to the negative terminal on the battery... is this okay to do?

Have I killed my alternator by driving without this connected up correctly? (I have a multimeter here and can test if someone can give me instructions)

Re: ZX2 Battery issue

I would wire it straight up without the black box and see if that fixes your problems. Take the car to Autozone or the like and have your battery and alterator checked. they do it for free.

Re: ZX2 Battery issue

Welcome to the site guys. As mentioned I'd take it to either Pep Boys or Autozone and have them test it on the machine for you.

Not sure what year the car is but if you do need an alternator we sell new alternators, not rebuilt ones like the most parts stores, our prices on a new one are pretty close to a rebuilds cost. Here's a link to them on our site.
