Hey guys, I was hoping someone might be able to shed a little light on a problem I have. My girlfriend has a 01 ZX2, and it slips out of gear. The Ford shop around here said it needs a new tranny...but I don't think thats the case. Some days it drives and shifts fine, but other times it will try to shift, but fall into neutral. Also, when it is acting up, if you leave it in drive, it won't take off...it just stays in neutral. But you can put it in first and shift through the gears just fine, which leads me to think the tranny is alright. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any insight on what it may be? Yeah tranny rebuild, sounds like you bands may be knackered
if you goona redo them yourself, dont do it on the unlevel backyard grass, just a personnel experience opinion

no doubt, u need a new tranny. I had that happen to me 2 weeks after i bought my car. it cost mt 1200 to fix with an auto tranny. i thought about a conversion after it happend to make it a stick but it costed more to put in shifter and pedal and what not. anyways. good luck replacing that!
