rear park assist

Does anyone know if the rear park assist can be added to a 2008 Mercury Sable Premier? Is it available as an add-on kit? Is the wiring already in the car? any help is appreciated.

Re: rear park assist

I'm fairly certain that to add a rear park assist to any vehicle would involve replacing the rear bumper, and wiring in the kit. If the park assist ties into the PCM, then it's most definitely not worth while to do. You can phone a dealer to get an estimated cost, but I'd place it around $2-3K with labour. I know the factory option was only $400 or so, but it's low cost due to the fact that the park assist is installed during the building of the vehicle, which lowers the labour and parts rate down to next to nothing.

cool Re: rear park assist

Well I know on the Chrysler add-on kits you just drill the holes in the bumper and the sensors pop in. It is a stand-alone system that ties into the backup light wiring. To the original poster, call the dealer.
