SYNC problems? - Ford Forums

I was so excited to get my 08 Taurus with SYNC and the navigation system. Unfortunately, the microphone won't pick up my voice and the salesman at my dealer can't seem to help me to figure out what the problem is. Does anyone know how to help me? I have tried to figure out how to turn on the voice activation, and the system says that it's listening, but can't pick up a voice. Help!

Go to the service desk and ask them, salesmen aren't meant to figure out problems. If they can't sort it out, go to a different dealer or contact Ford directly. I'm positive with all those electronic goodies the owners manual is awfully thick - but it might be worth a read.

thanks. I've read the manual cover to cover and finally took it back to the dealer. It seems that my microphone (located in the rearview mirror) was defective so they have to order an entirely new unit. In the meantime, now the USB input isn't responding, so I'll have to have them look at that as well. I guess that these are the pitfalls of buying brand new technology in a car!

Yeah. I'll never purchase a used vehicle again, but I'll always wait a full model year before I purchase new. It still looks bad on Ford, or any other automaker for that matter, when they advertise the vehicle, and within months of ownership parts start to fail or haven't worked at all since the purchase. I know I'd be livid!
