Guys I want to share an article i recently read in a Aussie men’s magazine about the cost of drag racing...
It’s called LIFE IS A DRAG...want to go fast - and spend money even faster?
Now this was done on a racing team called START YA BASTARD RACING, team manager is Steve Reed and the Fastest driver of there alcohol funny cars...the list reads like this
COMPUTER $15,000.
BODY SHELL $30,000.
DIFF $10,000.
TRANSMISSION $12,000.
CLUTCH $10,000.
SUPERCHARGER $20,000.
ENGINE $60,000.
REAR TYRES $2500 last 6 runs.
FRONT TYRES $800.
EXHAUST $1800.
They could easily spend a extra $250,000 and you wouldn’t even see it.
This doesn’t include running cost as fuels, oils, transport, and Tech crew. And did not mention the price of the car its self the rolling chassis.
There are very cash sponsors in this sport; most of these guys are using their own business to fund their venture in this game.
And this is the Alcohol class Nitro would be a lot more cash.
If you want to read the full article its in this months Ralf magazine...

$250,000 is all we need to get old fart racing up and going, lets put out a donation hat !! LOL
Interesting to watch those numbers rise very quickly !
Hi Ray, don’t worry about your OFR its up and running next year should be a bonza year, I am confident OFR will have street reregistered 10 sec BA next year...and if Rod stops eating for a week we might see a 9 sec pass in the Monza soon..
But Ray we are missing your guidance, how’s your search for a new car going hope to see your face at the track soon...
I can't see how you guy's down under can afford to drag race.If it cost me that much here in Kentuck I'd have never gotten started.
The initial cost to get my car going was $8,500. This got those other than myself started on their part of the project. The paint and body man, frame builder, machinest. All of these fella's were friend's or friend's of friend's, so you can imagine that I recieved a large discount.Even with that the cost was higher than I had first thought.
My first engine was $12,836. That was a big pill to swallow, but it did last me four season's so I have no room to complain. If it weren't for my sponsor's, friend's, and family my car would have never been finished.
