Re: Drags

I wish i had a forced fed V8. I have to settle for my forced 6 : (

Im surprised you lost to the VN, my 351 was a $600 wrecker special and I would kick VN SS's arses. I had a light XF though.

Re: Drags

Is that your fuel lines or your Secondarys opening too early. My car use to do the same I messed around with when the butterflys opened for ages until it was right. Then it would light em up with no brake in the dry.

Re: Drags

Yeah mine was a bitch. If you do search in the cleveland tech there will be instructions on how to do it. Its was a while since I had the car so I cant remember how to exactly.

Apparantly it is impossible for there to be a smooth transition as the secondaries are so large compared to the primaries.

I cant remember exactly but you have to adjust the spring for the secondaries, drive it and adjust it again accordingly until it is the best it can get.

Re: Drags

Secondary Throats Air-door Adjustment

In curcumstances where manifold vacuum is too low to begin drawing fuel through the secondary jets (eg: full throttle at low engine speed), the air-door will not open either, preventing any flow through the secondary throats, and preventing the engine bogging down through over-carburation.

In practice, there are two ways in which the air-door can be out of adjustment. The air-door spring can be under tensioned, allowing the door to open before fuel flow has started in the secondary jets; or it can be over tensioned, preventing the door from opening until sometime after fuel flow has started in the secondary jets. The first situation will result in a period of too-lean mixture, the second will result in a period of too-rich mixture. Both cases will cause a bog or stumble in the engine as the secondaries are opened.

Re: Drags

Thats the one. It took me ages to get it to where I was happy with it. Once your used to adjusting the spring its easy to do. I would do it on the drive to work sometimes.

Re: Drags

Nah I got the thermoquad to run good in the end so I didnt bother.

Then I got stuck with a new job that involved heaps of driving so I had to sell it. I was getting pretty crap economy. Its hard driving slow when you have a 351 to play with.
