Re: V8 torque

The problem with V-8's is that mostly they come in heavy cars. :( That is stock.

They are good for towing, and maintaining fast speeds with heavy weight, but not good for pure acceleration. In a LONG race, they could beat a supra, but not in a 1/4 mile. My V-8 only puts out 215 horses and 288 torque! LOL!

Re: V8 torque

comparing v-8's and turbo charged i-6's is like apples to oranges. A supra is a high end car and when it sold brand new it came around 35-40k. so what v-8 should we compare it to somthing comparable like a z06 vette or the supercharged cobras.

Thats just stupid. V8's don't just suddenly turn into a super awesome highway cruiser that will rape 6 cylinders. If the supra rapes it off the line, it will stay that way until its sitting on the limiter in 6th.

Re: V8 torque

Ford Falcon XR6 turbo ute, 1600kg (3200lbs), 650+rwhp (low boost), 6sp. and $60,000+AUD (about $55,000USD) for the build. it'd still be lucky to run sub 10.5 down the quarter.... take your approx same weight 320hp supra with cooler, exhaust, boost, "stage 3?" clutch with your imaginary 10.18sec time slip and jamm it.

this ute is being built by a couple of mates of mine, i don't mind superchargers/turbo's, but slap a decent single or twins on a v8 and your laughing.. they have just finished an 800rwhp LS1 powered VY ute with twin GT35's.

there is a internally stock LS1 VU Maloo ute make 900+rwhp with a PWR positive displacement blower, being fed by an intercooled Vortech V1 S-trim.. holden or not, it is damn impressive on standard internals. i haven't seen it personally, just the magazine article.

Re: V8 torque

10sec on the 1/8 right? Thats quicker than a stock Bugatti those idiots must of got it wrong. So if your right you should put your engine in one of those smart cars and you would with out a dought run in the 6s and why you are at it 6 cylinders is to heavy cut it in half and you could run in the sub 4s.

Re: V8 torque

Power to weight ratio is almost the be all, end all. The sound should be a factor too, like a nascar on a banked oval, at 9000 rpm. You know, on song. Secretly....I'd like to turbo my Clevo, but maybe the block would explode!! ( I've popped a welch plug already, doing an 'exhibition'.)

Re: V8 torque

I'm gonna revive this one to say that there is no way a stock Supra will run a low 10 second qtr mile. That is impossible.

I will say this though. If you were to take that Supra and any 600hp Mustang to an Autox course, the supra would eat the Mustang's lunch. When it comes to handling and suspension, they're very hard to beat. Put the same two cars in a drag race, the Mustang would win hands down.

My focus will run with if not outrun a stock supra in the 1320, with only FOUR cylinders, and 11psi. My car also only weighs slightly over 2200lbs with me in the car.

Re: V8 torque

umm, if you have a twin turbo supra and you have an intake on it you do not call it a cold air intake on a turbo car genius
