Re: 1975 XB Falcon Coupe - (Moffat Racing)

Interior resto going well. See below to pic of dash with resto facia and new NOS wiper and light switches and replacement cleaner (and more accurate!) GT/GS guages. I've got a cleaner and working clock to go in when I get around to it. Steering wheel outer needs full resto as it is worn down to the bone!

Has anyone ever replaced the silver trim on the console (can you get replacement, or is it a do it yourself resto job?). Mine is currently worn to yellow and has a couple of cracks in it.

Re: 1975 XB Falcon Coupe - (Moffat Racing)

I think that part was black/chrome on XA's it might be differnt on XB's though, Mine has chrome in places and where its worn off it's silver. Its hard to find one with no cracks and if you find one be careful taking it off. I found a nice one from a wreckers, The chrome is worn in spots but no cracks.

How did you get it off (i.e. glued on and very brittle)?

If you can't free the trim from the console take the console out and look under it, You should see the mounting pins that it's held on by, Use a hairdryer to soften the glue and plastic then use a razorblade to lever it up.

Good luck!

I was fortunate that the trim came off real easy and has no cracks.
Not sure about repairing the cracks but I used VHT chrome paint......looks good enough.

Try these guys and see if they have that trim if you haven't already.

You dont want to sell those flutes do you, coupecruiser? Apparently, in another twist, the factory code for colour coded XBGT's was RPO83, so emmo from GT performance in melb told me.

Re: 1975 XB Falcon Coupe - (Moffat Racing)

I remember 1 of those a LEETON in NSW back in about 1980
It used to be out front of a fruit shop all the time that was between Leeton & Yanco
No idea what happened to it but

To be honest I am stuck in a bit of a dilema. I think they would look great on the car, but am concerned about the issue of originality. I guess it is a relatively easy task to remove them and tidiy up if they become unwanted. Anyway, I will hang on to them as I think they will end up on the car. If not I will give you first oportunity to take em off my hands.

So, all colour coded XBGTs can be called RPO83s? The XA RPO brigade would argue the validity of that one I reckon'.

hmmm....either mine spent a bit of time in different parts of western NSW (see previous Nyngan post and came from Narromine) or maybe others were snapped up out there following Bathurst rather than ship them back to Sydney....

Thanks fat289

Spoke with Group Nc rep. Not much going, but he put me on to Minilite importer. $634 per 15x8 Minilite Trans Am rim

See below links, come in gold also...

Therefore, will not be updating rims in very near future unless i can come across some used ones in good condition.

Thanks for the leads...
