mad Anyone else bought parts in Oz that has to come from overseas?

I bought a Eldelbrock Thunder Series carb from VPW on the 10th of July this year which had to be ordered in from the US and I'm still waiting for it.
I know there are delays thanks to that Bin Laden wanker but **** me this is bullshit.

Anyone else gone through the same thing?

Your part's have probably been sent from USA via Surface-Mail(Ship),instead of Air-Mail to save them alot of cash.Surface Mail is often reffered to as 'Snail-Mail' by people who have used it before.It's alot cheaper,but takes alot longer to get here.I have had it take 3 Months before,but not 4 Months...that's gotta be some kind of record unfortunately.Goodluck...Lukeh!!

Yeah it is coming by ship and I have ordered from these guys before and had no probs but yeah 4 months is getting a little too long for my liking. I have rang 3 times with the same response "blame it on 9/11" I just wanted to see if anyone else had to wait for their parts for a long time. I will really be pissed off if I don't get it before Christmas.

Just as well my car ain't a daily driver.

Nope, more like blame it on the hurricane season. Right now most stuff is being diverted to go off the west coast so it has put a huge strain on the shipping companies. We just brought a container in from down there and it took several weeks longer. Nothing is going out of the southern ports which means stuff that normally flows down the Mississippi to New Orleans OR stuff that is frieghted into Houston, New Orleans, or Miami is now being trucked to LA or Seattle. This bigger problem is when they start deverting things back to the normal freight channels everything will slow down again.

Or you could blame it on our non functioning customs computer system, there's a lot of stuff on the docks waiting to be cleared at the moment.

Just buy your stuff from summit or jegs in the states.
Its so easy,just order online ,pay by credit card ,and in
seven days you have your stuff at the post office or
front door.They have (summit) a 24$ handling fee and
the postage is not the cheapest but in my experience
it still works out cheaper and quicker than the local rip-
off, excuse making speed shops.

Heres an idea of the postage costs that i have paid in
the past, in US dollars.

30lbs=$153

3lbs=$32

19lbs=$97

6lbs=$39

14lbs=$72

13lbs=$67

I always get quotes for the stuff i need at local
places in the hope i will get a reasonable price.....
it never happens, so i go to summit.

Also in the last month the Australian government implemented there new lemon computer system to intergrate all aussie ports. which has caused huge delays in container shipping.

Mate,
I know it's cheaper to use surface mail but if you spend a little more it's in your hands in 2 wks.

I've had stuff landed in here 6 days after ordering. That was a one off time though, generally 2 wks tops.
