Just after some info. Im after a replacement exhaust system for my XC GS rally pack 4.9 manual. It already has a set of HM headers that my father put on in the late 80s and they are still in good condition. It has a 2 1/2 single system built from them. As this car has heaps of sentimental value, its not a daily driver, so i guess stainless is the way to go. I would like a twin system, but will need a twin cut out rear bumper (anyone got a perfect one for sale?)
So my question, who to do the job (I live in central Victoria), and what mufflers sound best ?(not too fussed about EPA)
Thanks for the help.
I have a twin 2.5" with an X pipe on my XC. It sounds pretty good. Extractors are Genie 4-2-1 for torque. I paid $10 for a rusty old twin exhaust bumper and had it re-chromed for $275 and now it's perfect. You can cut out the left hand side. My old bumper had this done well enough that you couldn't tell unless you climbed under the car and really looked.

Thanks for the advice. I wont carve up the original bumper, Ill do as youve done and get a s/hand one with two cutouts and have it rechromed.
I have a freshly re-chromed original dual exhaust XC bumper that I do not need. I got it by accident, I was intending to get a ZH dual exhaust bumper but a mix up resulted in me getting an XC one instead... its only been unwrapped (then sworn at when I realised the stuff up), and has been sitting in a spare room on carpet since it was purchased last year.
I paid around $300 for it (plus trade in dual exhaust bumper) but would happily move it on for $250. Happy to email pics, PM me if your interested.

That doesnt sound right. How could they mix that up on you?
About 12 months ago I had a brain fart and thought that the bumpers of a ZH and an XC were interchangable.. I got hold of a dual XC bumper and arranged an exchange purchase. I only unwrapped it about two months after I got it when I was ready to exchange bumpers, and only then did I realise my stuff up... There are a heap of differences between the bumpers..
So now I have a beautiful dual exhaust XC bumper, but no XC to put it on!! :-)

I would be very interested Andrew, sounds like just what I need. Cant find your PM though! But once I sort that out I reckon that your rear bumpers as good as sold. You can PM me if you wish.
Cheers Bernie.
On a semi stock 302 I wouldn't go more than twin 2" or twin 2 1/4".
Thanks Brenx. I will follow your advice. Given that AndyZH might be able to assist with a rear bumper the new twin system wont be too far off
One last question. What mufflers would you recommend to get that grouse old school note?
Cheers
