g'day boys, Im pretty sure the blackoutson the gt are as follows:
matt black on the bonnet and boot, and glossy black around the side and rear windows,

can anyone confirm or correct me on this, plainly because i am in the midst of doing a gt replica in electric blue and, well im due to go to the painter on tuesday with the setup, and just by watching the passing gt's from the bus (damn i want my car bac), this is the impression that i got?

any help it greatly appreciated, cheers fellas.

I think its the same Black(Matt) for everything but dont hold me to this. Also some other members will no exactly.

Even though GT's came out with a Matt finish the old man and i still decided to go gloss on our XY.

Dont forget to show us some pics of your beast.

thanks fellas, i was going to bring it back to the good 'ol fairmont but then i realised it was easier to gt it primarily because someone had already done 3/4 of my work for me...

Also, would anyone suggest a better colour... i mean, i like the blue quite well but the painter said stay away from the dark colours... being that all the minor dings etc will show up... but who ever heard of a white xy gt with black stripes... i never seen one.

Nothing wrong with white mate. My old mans is white with gold stripes and i dont think black stripes would look that bad.

How bad is the body,why not panelbeat it so Blue will look good,I mean if you are going to spray it wht not prep it 1st.but yeah there's noithing wrong with White.

Out of curiosity, wasn't there a stripe delete option on the XYGT? I've seen a couple over the years with no blackouts or stripes at all, just a black shaker poking throught the bonnet.

Yes there is, but its hard to pull of because if your chose delete stripes on the XY GT you got the 351 High Performance GT badge on the quarter panel. Its not the same at the XW badge, the GT part of it is actually from the Capri GT

And to answer the other question, the black outs are black on all XY GTs regardless of colour, so yes, the white had black bonnet black outs, with gold stripes down the side.

I think mine will eventually end up white as it's already a sort of white at the moment. Ian Geoghegans 'super falcon' is white with a dark green strip and looks good. I personally feel that the XWY Falcon needs a stripe as there are one or two round here without them and they look a tad 'slab' sided. IMHO obviously.
