which booster

hi guys,

i want to put disc brakes on my XR falcon and need some help in getting a booster. from what i can tell the vh40 which is a common booster amoungst fords and other models is the likely choice. I am thinking of picking one up from the wreckers. How do i tell what a VH40 looks like and what are the best models to get it from, are there and other boosters out there that people would recommend instead of this model. I dont want to spend massive amounts of cash its not running huge power just want a bit of extra help stopping.

thanks

Re: which booster

If you wish to use an XW-Y,ZC-D,XA-B,ZF-G Brake Booster and Master Cylinder,or anything similar or later...Then your XR Firewall will require significant Modification first !!! I may be able to help you with a VH-40 Booster, but I do not have the Lines or the Original Ford Bracket, though I may be able to Fabricate one for you at a cost. I am also in Melbourne!!

Re: which booster

My cars got the VH-40, mounted inside the right hand guard up at the front.
Its all neat, you only see one brake line enter the guard from the master cylinder.
It works very well.

I have a vh 40 booster and bracket from my XR Fairmont which i am looking to sell cause i have upgraded to a xy type booster setup.Like lukeh said this modification requires a fair bit of ****ing around but the upside is that ultimately it is superior.Booster and bracket in good condition.50 bucks + postage.PS i,m in Perth.Don,t use xr type rotors and stubs either.Upgrade these to xw on vented rotors and stubs to suit. You will need to upgrade ball joints as well. If you need any more info just ask as i have done this a few times.
