hi im looking at a few xy utes:

there are three or four that ive found they are advertised at
$14,500 -- $20,000 --- $25,000

help!!

this will be my first ford and i was wondering if anyone knew
what the average price range for this vehicle would be and
what to look for when buying the car??
does anyone know of someone or a company that would check over the vehicle ????

any help would be greatley appreciated as im looking to buy in the next week

Pretty sweet looking 'coons there. I'm not sure what the going rate in Australia is, but here in NZ $25,000 is well over the top. I'd be looking at $12 - 18,000 depending on quality. For a stocker you're looking at around $7 - 10,000 for a good one. Some people just expect to get back what they spend on a car, which doesn't happen.

I'd agree, they all sound a bit expensive, Be patient you will get one cheaper if you can afford to wait and buy one privately. As a guide my XT cost me $2500 as an easily registered six cylinder which needed paint, engine, gearbox etc to bring it to where it is today. I would estimate it owes me about $10 -12K. Since restos are almost always more expensive than buying one with the work done that makes the $20K one pretty dear. Have a look at my ute at www.rathluba.com/ute

IMO any clean straight looking xy ute that has had big money spent is worth it if you are thinking of keeping the car.
paint =6k, top engine=6k, wheels+rubber=2k, clean body=4k, interior=2k theres 20k.
Would depend on the car and nick its in but they won't drop in price too much and they're as tough as!
I'd go for it if it's what you want... nothing tougher utewize.
