Can you tell by the chassis number what model of car it is. For example XT and XR can be made look different. XR to XT. XT to XR. Is there anywhere which shows chassis numbers to model of car.

The body prefix will tell you. The 2 letters after the JG33 (for example) will give you the production date. ie JG33LE is a Falcon GT produced in april 71 (XY). If you know the dates each model was released, its easy.
