ESP Falcons

Just as a matter of interest. How do you tell the difference from an ESP falcon to normal falcon. Is there a special chassis number like the GT or is it just the extras the car is fitted with ??

Cheers Rob

Re: ESP Falcons

yeah pretty hard to tell, eng code should be T and trans L for a 351. All 351's were manuals depsite what may be said, they only left the factory as 4sp manuals. 302's came in both auto and man. Although bearing in mind these codes can also exist on a fact 351 manual xe ghia. There was also an XD esp model.

there was an actual esp option - 53 from memory.

Re: ESP Falcons

Thanks for that guys. I was looking at a supposed XE ESP, but apart from the scheel interior, there seems to be nothing else ESP about the car.

Cheers Rob

you mean XE ESP 351's were all manuals ? I had a 2 owner onyx black 5.8 auto ESP and have seen many other auto's

things to look for on an ESP is the seats obviously, XD's had orange illumination in the dash, the wheels, square spotlights under the font bumper and mine had stiffer lower suspension though Im not sure if that was an ESP feature or a one off.

not all esp's are fairmont ghias. in the xd range you could get a falcon with esp pack.

ESP was basically a cosmetic option not an engine/performance option, there are 6cyl, 302 and 351 XE ESP's
You'd have to contact Ford to verify it was ordered with the ESP option.

Re: ESP Falcons

XD ESP was available on any sedan in the Falcon range.
XD ESP cluster and Clock light up red

XE ESP was only available on fairmont Ghia
option code 54, not on Complience plate, can only tell by ringing ford.
the cluster is green on the XE range.
all have lowered suspension, bilstein shocks, gold snowflake rims, scheel trim, but are available in a range of colours, not all ESPs are 2 tone.
