We had one of the engineer's who was working on the BA come over from melbourne to show us the new territory. I asked him about the BA 2 and what ford will put up against the VZ/VE commodore.
1. BA 2 should of been released at the start of 2004, but was pushed back til march then pushed back til middle of this year. he said it wont be put back anymore.
Exterior changes:
I asked about the exterior changes he replyd that there wont be many changes at all.
Mechanical changes:
There will be a large amount of changes to fix some of the teething problems the BA 1 has at the moment. He says there will not be a 6 speed transmission in the F6 typhoon but there should be one seen in the new BA 2 only in higher models. There also will not be any power increases only a slight weight reduction.
With the BA 2 or before there will be a Fairlane Galaxy released which is a 260kw V8 and other added features.
2. The future Copperhead:
The current falcon in production will be called the Copperhead he did not give much information about this one but we can expect a GT-HO release in this series.
That is all i know at the moment, i have his business card so i will surely post more information as soon as i know it.
Interesting, but does not make sense. The F6 typhoon will come out at the end of 2004 and therefore be a BA 2. Therefore it should have the 6 speed transmission being a higher spec model. Is this correct? We are aware the prototype version has the XR6T 5 speed at the moment so maybe that's what he is refering to.

yes i was told today also, there is a certain dealer had a test drive of a xr8 with a manual 6 speed box, I think there is one person could find out if this is true its Russell W he knows this dealer well...
The BA 2 engine is codenamed Copperhead in the factory no different to now the ones built a while ago had different oil filters and not much else most of the changes will be with the ECU they are always changing the engines new rocker covers came through yesterday
the current engines are
Standard- Barra
DLPG- Dingo
Turbo- Gull
RTV- Brolga
Territory- E265
Thats so weird. A couple of months ago I got told that the new Falcon (dont aske me which one) would incorporate the use of copper into the engine heads on the High spec I6's. Wonder if there is any relationship?
That would actually make sense to me . . . They would be trying to match holden's current behaviour of making a new model each time they change the stickers on the cars
imo VY's should be called VT12.....

A very good friend of mine works for the test and development side of Ford and he told me about six months ago that they are testing a six speed auto and is doing quite good. So forget the rumours and believe it when you see it
The ORION in 2006 fits in with what I saw in NT last year. The engineers said they were testing the 2006 falcon driveline. Later I overheard them talking about single/dual fans and operating in over 40 deg (probably why they were in NT)
I saw one of the mules several times but only got close when it was under a tarp at the motel.
It looked exactly like a car under a tarp. :s5
On the road it looked exactly like a BA with crappy paint and a dyno behind it.
