Cam ? check Crane cams but nothing over 220 @50 lift, 280 adv imo..Good valve springs are a must.The falcrom on the rockers wear so check there.Raising compression helps too especially when a cam is installed..Check that your distributor is working correctly, the advance/ counterweight springs often become weak or loose....Check advance curve... hth..

The only issue I'd have with a Vac sec carb is the vacuum is severely decreased in a reasonably cammed engine such as the cam I suggested. So the secondaries will open later than they should. I guess lighter springs could be added?
The funnel web manifold would be pretty useless unless stock 302 wants to spin a stock bottomend over 6500rpm. Which means new springs/stud mount roller rockers/studs in the heads etc. Lots of $ to do that. Trust me I have big $ 2V heads.
In my engine I can't even run vacuum advance as ;
the distributor won't advance. I have to run mechanical advance. Vacuum kick down on the auto doesn't work as it should.
Chance of vacuum secondaries working as they should zero.
Although my engines very different spec to what I've suggested for Stock XB.
Cam I suggested should run with about 26-28deg total advance. Maybe a little more but not much.
A mate of mine is running the cam below the one I've suggested. He runs a 650DP. His cam has only 480or so thou lift but not over 500thou. His XC panelvan running a 3000rpm histall/3.7 rearend behind a 351 runs 14.195 at about 93mph.
Although I am quite interested to see what other people would suggest also.
A good 650DP can be had for about $200-250 depending on type. Manifold? About $150-200 also no need for new unless you have $ to waste.
