A proper 100% resto project in every meaning of the phrase is something I'd only once in my life, maybe twice max. Thats not to say that I'd only restore one car, but the proper 100% best jobs are so time consuming it gives you a headache just thinking of em. I'd love to make an XA show car one day, or maybe a 69 mustang.

Yeah, 2 dings actually, poor old mate......guard was sitting on the car without bolts, he had just adjusted the drivers door a little, and was about to re-fit the guard when it just fell off and as luck would have it, landed on his panel beating hammer. He was a little ashamed of himself. It's not that bigga problem, he has to pop them out and file down the whole guard anyway, with the diffrent drivers door, the panel profile is ever so slightly out, so some re-shaping is needed anyway.

No less than 20k. The beaters have an open book to fix anything they find wrong with the body, no questions asked, allthough they still consult me first.

Thanks xbcoupe, that is one of my aims, to help out and show others what they may be facing if considering such a mammouth task as this. I am just about out of webspace, so now need to look at that........

donny.....
didn't go the carsales.com/amcs etc... if I really wanted to sell her it would have gone on some sites...
Needless to say, if it doesn't sell by month end it's back to the storage facility a mate has (with 8 gt's in it!!!) as my old man heads up your way for 4 months a year...
Have a few guys biting, but they think I'm dropping the price... well, I have, to 27.5k.

I think I'll be keeping her.... and getting myself another just for the hell of it!!!!!

Keep us posted on your coupe, looking grand!!!!

As for Hardtop revenge.... hmmmmmm, might be nice to have a hardtop and get over there for a spin... think cobra??? whahahahahaa....

Keep cool.

Mick.

Cobra?????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.(I know u r only stirring me)
GT Coupe???? Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
I can't beleive you haven't sold your xa yet. After all that pestering at the Nationals.....
Things are progressing well, she might be all in epoxy by weeks end. Bonnet done and right side allmost ready. I am taking in half the bits of the car tomorrow to do a test fit. Taking all lights/grille/honeycomb/moulds etc. Gonna be an interesting week. If you notice the right door hanging out a little,it is just hanging there, there is no stryker or latch to hold it closed.

Could see my sedan carrying that to hardtop revenge... just for the hell of it!
Couldn't see myself putting a towbar on the glow though... LOL!!!!

Looking back on it I should have put a for sale sign on mine... but thems the brakes.
I'll still have wheels next trip back if it doesn't sell which is the good part!!!

I would take your car to Valla. There have been no XA GT's for sale there for the last 2 years. Send me the car and I will sort it for ya.....That blue thing is pretty wild, would hate to see how twisted the underbody is after all that motor being used in anger...
I am looking for another one, but not real hard yet. I am having trouble coping with spending 25k on a potentiol car that is in the same state as mine was in, and I only spent 5.5k on buying mine.....Thats a big diffrence. Why don't you give Mark a ring and see if he will sell you his wild plum coupe.

To Dodge...
My car is being done at a place called Gold Coast Auto Restorations.

It's a 6/71 blower, it is road registered, but you wouldn't last long driving it, it would need club rego to drive on the road to official events, there is a writeup on it here , its in feature cars under the name XA Patchwork.

Donny,

Have you tried this dashboard place in QLD http://www.dashrestorations.com/index.shtml

Just found it on google.

Russell.
Hi Russel, I used them once about 10 years ago, they did a shit job, just covered over my old cracked one and took 3 months to do it. The material didn't even look right.

More Done....(Sorry to keep dragging this one up) better than a new thread every time

As of yesterday, we got the right side done, and the front into epoxy. By the end of today, we should have the roof and bum done too, then it's all apart again, and start to put it into primer. Did a test fit of the door trims too.....

Honeycomb and back badge drilled and fitted....

I have been just itching to get my car going and to make things worse.
This got my juices flowing even harder on Saturday....

Check out the subtle under bonnet blower. Gee it sounded sweet too.
