I got a question do you now how to take the dask pad of without wrecking it .

When you said a few dings need sorting out ,i wasn't thinking about replacing a roof! My hats off to you for putting such effort into the resto.

Thanks guys, it did turn out to be a much bigger project than I initially bargained for, but the end results will be worth it.
Below is the responses from the above questions....
1. The dash pad should come out easy, 3 screws down right side, drop the 3 screws from the cluster just incase they are long and digging into the underside of the pad, the blind screw behind the ash tray and the 2 behind the glove box housing (need to remove glove box first).Then it's just a couple of spring type clips and you just pull it out towards you...

2. If you saw what was in it when we stripped the paint, you would agree 100 percent with what I did. It would have cost more in hours to fix it all then to replace it.

3. I got the plenum from a real helpful fella in Broken Hill, I asked him to cut it in the way my panel beater said would give us everything we needed. The cut was approx. 2 inches below the fire wall seam, all the way across the both a-pillars. We just picked it all apart and kept what we needed.

What's the cost so far and what do you think the total project wiil come to,please?
This is a good example why a propperly restored car is worth the money asked.
No use trying to get a cheapie, it does not add up.

I couldn't possibly tell you how much it has cost upto now, but the panel shop will set me back not a penny less than 20k. It may go higher yet, depends on one or two things yet. The parts cost has been a total blow out too, I am actually deliberatly not going to check to see what parts are costing, cause it will give me the sh!ts badly. When I did my last GT, the parts were barely 5 percent of their cost now. Damm e-bay and profiteers.
I am aiming to have a car that looks at least as good as that yellow glo RPO 83 that sold last year for a tad under 75k. That car is my 'yard stick'....
When I bought mine, I thought I got the buy of the year, but when we stripped the jam from it, then we knew lots needed to be fixed. I wanted to buy one for 25k (14 months ago), this should have got me a ripper car, but nothing right came along. The car I got was a long shot, not really for sale, been owned by same guy 15 years, had tons of money spent on it etc etc Got it for one fifth of that budget, so body wise it is still on the money, just all the finnishing off bits and bobs that are the blow out.
I will guess (very wild guess this is) the total job will be between 30k and 40k. It will be a tight car though.....
