Yes, I like Fords.
Btw, Steve, you must have quite a rego/insurance deal going with all those cars!

Only the GT, Capri 2.8i, XR6 (company car), Faimont Ghia and the big truck are registerd. The Landau and Fairmont wagon I let go. I havnt driven them since 2002, stuck down the back of my shed behind some trucks. The Fairmont Coupe needs restoring. GT is a WIP at the moment. I will run all the others on Club rego when I get around to it.

Its on Ice. Its a goer and I have had it 9 years. Got it from Fowels, engine fire. I rebuilt the motor and got everything working. It flys. Its just a standard motor with a 351CJ cam and holly 600. Needs painting, hood has the scorch mark but still looks respectable.
The car was a dream realy. It was meant to be mine. When I was a kid of 17 working out west from Rockhampton, this guy at work bought a tropical gold Landau. I was green with envy. This car was the dogs bollocks back in 79. The car was the same colour as the one in the adds back in 73.
Back to my car, my brother reports this Landau at Fowels. I go take a look. I wasnt flush with cash but decided to have a crack. See, it was Tropical Gold, the one I always wanted. I lost, it went for 200 more than I had. I was spewing. Two weeks later, the car is up again. The guy didn't pay. This time I made sure it was mine.
That car is a fine bottle of wine. Funny enough, I still work with the guy from Rocky here in Melbourne. He is a project Manager now and I am a Engineering Manager at the same company, same one since 78. He was here last New Year, looking at my Landau and wishing he still had his. I have done just over a 1000k in 9 years. I just love owning it. Its down the back of my shed, coverd in dust, but saved forever.
Steve (starting to get teary now, lol)

Yes, I like Fords.
Paint and panel $ 7 - 15,000
Engine if all's ok $ 3,000
Trans/clutch $ 500 - 2,000
Diff $ 500 - 2,000
Brakes/fr. end, underbody, etc $ 500 - 2,000
Interior $ 3,000
Electrical if not too bad cond. $ 100 - 500
Miscellaneous $ 500 - 2,000
That's approx $30,000 plus cost of car. If car's pretty good cost could be below the above list but you'd be lucky.
Might seem big range of prices but it'll average out (you hope). Hard to tell with just photos for reference.
It's still worth a look - Not all the work has to be done today!!!
Cheers Northey
What he said, 30k would be a minimum amount to do it right. Any less would be extremely lucky and a none to common event. Just ask those who have undertaken such a task. Add bulk $$$$ if there is anything major wrong with it.
So in other words, i'm better off spendign 30k, and finding a good xt, xa or xb gt as i want. But yet again, in 3 to 4 years when ill be ready to purchase one when i get out of uni, the prices will have risen, and what now is a good one, will probably be a semi good one which still needs a fair ammount of work.
What Northey said is about right. You could also buy one that is still driveable with the minimum of work and restore it later. I've seen plenty lately that look tidy but to be perfect need a resto. I'd say if you waited 3-4 years the prices will definetely inflate. You just have to look at XW/XY GT's, it wasnt that long ago when they were around the 20-30k mark.
It all comes down to how perect you want a GT to be. For me i'd want it to be showroom condition. Better resale value down the track if that had to happen :)
