Number Plates

hey guys,

i have the original plates from my XR falcon but the rego has run out and i have a few months to get the car back on the road before they take them off me. Everything in the car has been changed nothing really is original so i am now thinking if its worth rushing the job just to keep the plates. What do you think?

Re: Number Plates

Thought about this myself, you should either report the plates stolen (with I would not recommend) or just re rego the car and pay the late fee that comes with it.

Re: Number Plates

i dont get it, why would i report them stolen??? that means i wouldnt be able to put them back on the car. I might just can the plates seen as the car isnt in its original state and get some personalised ones.

Victoria is actually one of the better states on this.

You SHOULD be able to ring them up and have that number RESERVED as a pesonalised number.

Ensure they are aware you already have plates, and the reason you have let the reg expire....

Last time i looked it was a $30 holding fee.

Cheers
Jas

Re: Number Plates

Vicroads have held mine (original) at no cost for 12 months,
due mid next year. Give them a call and see what gives.
Individuals there have some clout and you might get lucky.
When I registered my XM coupe last year, the bloke took
forever to get my plates, hinting that something was wrong,
and all he did was try to find some Kool plates!!
I ended up with SON-064!! Car dude all the way!!

I dont know how things work south of the border , but i was able to transfer my old personal plates to an old runabout i had ,untill my exwife let me get enough money saved to put the beast on a leash again(car not exwife)and have the plates tranfered back. I have heard to many horror stories of plates going walk about from the rego office.

I'm sorry sir, your plates were in the wrong bin and were destroyed. We can make up nice new reflective ones for you for free though....... Been there done that too,
