Ever get knocked back on a r/w certification for the cut parcel shelf? This is the main reason your not supposed to cut 6*9 holes in your parcel shelf. As you can see it doesn't apply to pre 76 vehicles

And what if I dont have the need for child restraints? Australia is really starting to Sh!t me with all it's bureaucracy.

According to them if it came with one and is not pre 76 your screwed. My old man keeps whining about that kind of stuff to me all the time. He's rather anal about anything to do with road worthiness. He's a tester but he aint right all the time! I've challenged him a few times and won.

[edit] The fix is weld in a new shelf but weld it properly as they'll fail a badly welded one too.

on the subject of ADR my 1974 xb was knocked back because it didn't have the "charcoal canister" hooked up. the canister, the so called expert was looking at, was the vacuum canister for the a/c dash control. pre ADR27 vehicles don't have charcoal canisters. don't believe every thing "experts" try and push on you.

Yup thats correct only 75/76 models got the canister. I've been through this myself with Vicroads. Ford can varify its correct but quite often enough you have to do it yourself.

Aw shit, I have one restraint anchor left in between my 6x9s. Never been hassled about it. Most of these cars still on the road these days are owned by (older?) enthusiasts. I dont know any owners that would one need to use more then one child restarint at the one time. Actually, my Pulsar is probably illegal then as the previous owner fitted an MDF parcel tray (on top pf the original) to mount a set of 7x10s!! The anchorages cannot be used at all. I am selling is soon, maybe I should point this out to any potential buyer, not likely. lol.
I'm pretty sure most XBs had charcoal canisters as well.

Only 75/76 models had the canister. 73/74 models only had the pcv.
