Places for Parts

Hey everyone,
hope there isnt already heaps of threads here about this, i did try searching but had no luck

i have just bought a 71 xy falcon 500, it was complete, the usual condition, rusted sills, odd carpark dint, now im looking at doing it up as a long term project, i managed to find a rusted out xb gs panelvan that had a reco 351 and c10 auto that im going to throw into it.

i dont want to do the car up as a faker, i just want to get the fairmont chrome for the windows, maybe get a gt boot garnish (instead of the falcon500 one) but i dont want it to be like all the other fake gts out there, just something clean and tidy. maybe do the inside up like a gt with the saddle trim and dash facia and centre console but apart from that i dont want all the stickers on the outside (dont get me wrong, i love the gts and fake ones look awesome, i just want a simple looking cruiser but)

the thing i want to know is where can i get parts for the older fords, is there anywhere that you can get new or remade taillights (not the lenses as i have them but the taillights i got were painted black to look like gt ones) or the door chrome or dash facias etc. i know of rare spares but that is it and they dont sell the alot of things i am after, i may have to just try and find the best quality second hand ones i can but im hoping there is someone out there who sells these parts and more

so please list all the places you know of where you can get anything, rubbers, chrome bits, bumpers, anything at all so that i can shop around because there isnt much around here in wagga wagga :)

thanks heaps

Re: Places for Parts

G'day,
your tail light bezels. Try a LIGHT application of paint stripper and see what comes out. Failing that, if the bezels are in good condition and the chome comes out crap, you can always get them rechromed.

Another source would be places in South Africa (i have not researched any as yet) but they produced XY's MANY years after us, and you may be able to get some NOS items from over there.

There are a few places for rubbers, on esp that comes to mind is in melb...can't think of the company name...just know how to get there. Maybe someone else knows the name off the top of their head...the one in Ringwood.

Cheers
Jas

Not a problem buddy. Keep an eye out on Ebay and trading post as well. Just make sure you know what sort of prices the bits you are chasing are worth before commiting to anything.
