You're obviously in the US. Most of the guys/gals on this forum are in Australia and they are talking about Australian built Falcons. Australia does not use model year but series designators. The first Falcon was the XL which is almost identical to the 1960 US built Falcon. Your 1964 shares NO body panels with the Falcons built in Australia in 1964. However, the XP Falcons built in 1965/66 did use some of the front sheetmetal from the Mercury Comet built in 1963.
The XA Falcon was the first Aussie design and all Aussie built Falcon. It went on sale in 1972 and was built until Oct 1973. In Nov 1973, the XB Falcon went on sale and was built until 1976. The XA/XB/XC/XD/XE Falcons all use the same basic floor pan and are roughly based on the US Ford intermediate unibody that arrived under the 1966 US Fairlane. Many of the suspension peices from various 68-73 Fords will bolt onto a XA-XE Falcon.
