Wondering if anyone can help the 'freeplay' I have in my steering, quite scary to drive at around 70mph and hit a slight bump and veer off towards a truck while the steeringwheel is still straight....
And it wobbles a wee bit before actually turning the wheels..
So... where would I start with working the problem out?

Next, the wof testing dude complained about the handbrake not being even.
Apparently 180% one side and 30% the other?
wtf is all I can think of.

theres an adjustment for freeplay on the top of the steering box, looks like a screw with a great big nut around it.and the hand brake..umm..I can't remember off the top of my head what actuates the handbrake in the drum..are both drums adjusted correctly?

Just adjust the drums up nice and even (should have some drag on it when turning by hand). First thing to do is loosen the handbrake cable completely off, then adjust your drums, then tighten the cable up. Another funky tip when handbrakes are uneven is to swap the drums (left to right). Don't ask me how, but it works, I've seen it with my own eyes on many occassions.

Oh yeah, also lubricate the whole handbrake actuating system (cable, linkages, the lot).
