Hello everyone,
Does anyone know how much to tighten the end cap/nuts on the ends of the upper control arm shaft for a 1964 Falcon Ranchero? I replaced the upper control arms as a complete assembly but the ends are not tight and I don't know how much to tighten them. There is not enough room for a torque wrench so do you just tighten them as much as you can or will that make them wear out faster? Thanks for any help you can give.

I couldn't find upper arm bushing torque specs. I've always tightened them pretty tight, or until the washer starts to squeeze the rubber. Be sure you do this after the wheel is on and the weight of the vehicle is on the ground. If you tighten it up while it is jacked you will rip the bushing when you lower the vehicle.

Thank you very much! I set it down and bounced it a couple of times and then tightened them as tight as I could.

Well after getting them as tight as I could, it drove much better on it's first test drive. I went back and drove it again and the upper control arms are making a popping noise now? I backed off on the nuts and it has much more spring now (too much) and the noise is gone. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
