What are these out of?!

Have a look at these...

Here

I have a pair that I was going to put on my XB. They're Ford obviously, but what?! From what I can tell, the original reels for the B's are open without a plastic cover. At least that's what my original is.

D'you reckon they'll fit? Was the plastic cover on panel vans or utes or something?

Re: What are these out of?!

Not an expert but I would say they are aftermarket ones from the photos.

I think the back ones in Fairmont wagons had plastic on them didnt they? Or maybe all the fairmonts had plastic?? Possibly Fairlane/LTD.

I don't think they're aftermarket. I'm yet to take the plastic cover off, but they look very much the same design. They clip into the original ford buckles perfectly too.

The only difference is the plastic cover.

If the fairmonts had plastic, I would have thought the GT's did.

My bro's mate has a burnt orange XBGT and it has the 'open' reels. I can't find anything about them on the net (I'm gonna keep looking though).

Re: What are these out of?!

It's pretty obvious when you look at the pics LilMattie - try P5 LTD.

Re: What are these out of?!

P5 had the different buckle didnt they? plastic coated and the chrome end had like an arrow in them not the square. They are early model. And I would have thought the GTs had falcon stuff more than fairmont. They were Falcon GT not Fairmont GT. But Im thinking like Landu (spelling) or something.

If you look at the paper attached to the seat belts you will see 'P5' written on it. I would not say for definite that they are or aren't but, I have a set at home from a ZH Marquis. It is on this paper tag that says Fairlane, hence my reasoning behind the belts being from a P5. Will stand corrected though.

ZH MArquis has unique seat belts. I found that out when I fitted the (small bucket) electric seat bases in my GXL. The stalk is attached to the seat base and moves with it so that you don't get constricted by the belt when you play with the seat. The buckles are completely different from normal XC ZH ones. I had to go back and get the whole belt assemblies. Believe the tag, it's probably right. FOrd don't make THAT many mistakes.

Re: What are these out of?!

I didn't even look at that other belt (the rear interia for P5 sedan). It has an open reel. I'm mainly curious about the ones with a plastic trim covering.

This is an interior shot from the sales brochure of the P5 LTD. Saddle brown - same as my interior.

Interior Shot

You can only just see it, but that to me still looks like the 'open' reel... for the front inertia's.
