G'day fellas just wondering if an XC steering box and rack will bolt into an XR/T or are they completely different.

XC does not have a steering rack.

No...no they don't.
Is an Xc steering assembly (or linkage if you prefer) from the steering box to the steering arm ( tie rods, ball joints, idler arm and bracket steering con. rod) compatable with an XT?.

No the XC will not fit.The mount points on the chassis are different.If you are after a seperate steering box / shaft instead of the one piece like the XT you can go for and XW/XY. You will have to be careful though as there are some different tapers in the outer tierod ends.

The xr/t has a non collapsible steering shaft that is also part of the steering box.Pretty dangerous setup really. Its a good idea to change to a collapsible type shaft setup from xw on.I have just done this in my xr and have a parts xy which has many of the bits intact .I am using the rrs rack setup in mine but have still got steering box and all the other bits except the steering column.PM me if you need any bits.cheers,russ.

I was just thinking of salvaging them from a wreak for a future project, but as they arent the same i'll leave them be.
