XA GT on Muscle Car Sales`

I heard somewhere that there is something seriously wrong with the Calypso Green XA GT Coupe on Muscle Car Sales on Website.

The car needs a resto job from the looks of the Photo's, looks like its been in storage or paddock somewhere.

I certainly wouldn't pay $25,000+ for one in that condition.

I drive past this car everyday on Parramatta rd it looks fairly ordinary for that sort of money.

Re: XA GT on Muscle Car Sales`

It needs a FULL RESTO.....Body and all Mechanicals.
You can gather your ideas from there as to what you think it's worth. This is why it's still for sale. As I am doing a full resto on mine, I know just how much it costs to do it right. Take your wildest guess and double it.
Heres my math....(I used for my car when I bought it last year)
Buy Price....approx 5-6k
Paint.....approx 7k (no repairs, just a block down and paint...NOW is 20k due to body work extras)
Running gear 1k...putting in my spare motor to save the orig block check out top loader and diff
brakes....2k the car was up on stands for 8 years and not driven
suspension 1-2k....all bushes done etc
parts/interiour.....1-2k wow this blew out to hell, possibly 5k plus now at least

orig estimate was costs of approx 18 to 20k including purchase price. With nice fresh paint and a few extras fixed up nice. Would have been a 25-30k value car....
New estimate....approx 35k and still counting.

Luckily I only paid 1 fifth the asking price of this green car. And you could definantly cut my costs down, but I decided to go all out, and my philosophy is it's a gen matching numbers GT coupe, why not it will be worth it.

Now add my costs plus 20 to 25k buy price.....wow

Re: XA GT on Muscle Car Sales`

You got to to have rocks in yor head if you pay $25 grand for a XA GT that needs a full resto job.
I'd say $7 - 10 grand is reasonable.

It sits outside a either a mechanical shop or a panel shop on the left hand side of the rd (heading into the city) near Rick Damelian.

I use this simple equation when working out a car value.
Finished A1 condition Restored value of the model in question - costs of work needed to bring the car upto that value = second hand value.

IE: if an XAGT Coupe in restored condition is worth 40K and there is 30K worth of work in restoring the car (yes its possibly to spend that much easily if you include all mechanicals etc) than its secondhand value is no more than 10K.

Re: XA GT on Muscle Car Sales`

Has anyone noticed since GT prices have sky rocketed, all the "in need of resto" cars have popped up for big dollars? I know XA's are rare, but some of the prices people are asking are just out of this world.
