Just wondering if xa C4/C10 (whatever the F it is - pan fill C4?) sedan and coupe speedo cables are one and the same.

I wouldve thought they are as there is no difference in firewall is there? Therefore overall length to trans would be exactly the same? Someone tried telling me they are different, just wanna know before i buy.

i would be 99% sure that they are the same.

the coupe is longer than the sedan but that is behind the gearbox mount. needs a longer tailshaft, every thing else should be the same.

Sorry, but that couldn't be more wrong. Both 2 door and 4 doors have the same wheelbase. Therefore the same tailshaft. The longer ones are ute/wagon/fairlane and LTD. The tailshaft length stayed the same for years (plus or minus a few mm for 9" vehicles- but you can interchange anyway). You could fit the tailshaft from an EA in your XB if you wanted......

If you were talking about Datsun (or similar) then I would agree. The tailshaft from a 1200 coupe is longer than the one from a 1200 sedan. But this is Fordforums.

i was thinking the coupe was the same wheel base as the ute. same doors.

interesting trivia about datsuns???/ i`m sure that will be usefull.

spot on. I've used a sedan tailshaft in a coupe. Cables are exactly the same but I think speedo cables maybe different but only from manual to auto?

I Ahd To Change One In My Xb Continential And I Change It With A Wagon One Which Are Slighty Longer, Not Sure If The Wagon Ones Are Longer For A Reason Or If The Part Was After Market As I Got It From A Wrecked One, Anyway The Story Is That There Are Two Different Length Cable Out There Reason Unknown But Connections Are Same

The diffrent length cables are auto or manual ones only. no diffrent sizes for sedand and wagons etc....the wheelbase has nothing to do with the speedo cable.


Auto is longer.

Thats cool - the one I bought was listed on our ebay equivelant as XA sedan C4 speedo cable, so should fit no worries!
