You don;t have the original engine in it. No big suprise. I guess the difference between the 3 and 6 might be a typo. Also seems like you could have a GT engine, if the 66 is correct and my brain remembers correctly.
Turns out its jg63. Had some dirt and looked like 66. I read it in the dark with a torch.
So can you tell from the engine number at all if it is a 302 or 351? Or do they just take your word for it?
you cant tell from an engine number for certain if it's a 351 or 302. The best you could hope for is that if it's a LTD or Landau (or GT for that matter!!) engine number it was originally a 351. It's been so long who really knows thats going to be in there
With 4v heads the intake ports at the manifold/head intake face, just about touch the bottom side of the rocker gaskets where the 2v has about a 15mm gap..No numbers in the top corners near the rocker cover gaskets are prob 2v.
I was just looking though a old car magazine from 1973 it's a roadtest on the xa superbird it says here the engine was a mandatory 302 mill with 240bhp 305 lb/ft @2600rpm.
Yep as far as I know thats what it means, as my Fairlane's prefix is JH and apparently all 'lanes of around that period were built in Brissie
