Hey guys,

This is my first post here so lets hope I dont screw this up :)

Attached is a pic of my XB GS that is soon to be resprayed. The black surrounds along the sides of the car & the black bonnet were done by the previous owner.

I've heard conflicting reports over the last week or so as to whether there was actually an option that made GS's come from the factory with this black paint (ie the same as the XB GT).

If anyone could throw some light on the subject I'd appreciate it, as I havent seen a standard GS with this paint scheme before.

I'll post an "after" pic when its resprayed :)

This pic showes what the GS's looked like.
Blackouts like the GT were on GT's only.

You've got to remember that back in those days if you wanted your Falcon with 7 doors and 2 wheels the dealer would probably bend over backwards to do it for you.

Seriously, even though the GS didn't have the GT's blackouts, by ticking the box the dealer would paint them for you. The GT's driving lights were optional on the GS packs but the grill was grey not black

If you ever hang around used book shops look out for a publication called "Ford Falcon - The Authentic Collection, The 1st 25 Years" (1960-1985) it's softback and made up of reproduced Sales Pamphlets. It's got all the info you need on GS XB's

They probably did but I honestly have not come across one that was painted from the factory.

GTHO4s pics are correct. Direct from factory brochures. As XR6 wgn said, dealers would actually help you back then.
