73 XAGT Coupe

hello,

I recently bought an XC GXL 250 auto. It only cost me $1.00 on ebay. The bloke i got it off said all the tranny fluid has leaked out the output shaft seal over a 6 month period. I have a couple of XA/XB service manuals and the car is 200 kays away so i cant just go out and have a look.

My questions are;

Being a 250 would the gearbox be a C4 or BW35??

On either of these can the seal be changed in car??

Its only going to be my bush hack....... I am sick of fixing toyotas.

can you still aford to buy a seal after paying that much for the car.

we will need photos when you get it.

i think that the XC had C4 tranny but dont trust my memory,( i dont ).

Its more than likely a BW 35. C4s where not that common.

Spewn its in perth, for a bush basher, GXL's are getting more $$.
To answer your Q, im pretty sure BW. I know tow pack XD's had C4's

Theres no interior, lights, grille and most of the other good bits are missing but for what i am doing with it its good.Only need 2 front seats and some seat belts. Also has air conditioning and power steering.

front bar looks good. I just got rid of a grille and headlights that would have fitted.

Looks like a c4 since you can just see the vacuum line to the modulator on the r.h side and the speedo cable coming in the left side.. Either way the rear seal is the same for borg warner35 or c4.

yes you can change the seal with the tranny in place, its not too hard. Use TQF fluid.
