XR to XB GT ... A big con ???

Man , Genuine early GT Falcon prices have for a long time been expensive...But lately it seems to have got to the point where I cannot justify the cost !!! I could get some beatiful Classic Mustang , and in some cases ,significantly cheaper than a Genuine GT Falcon Sedan ...It's insane. Look at the price of an XY GT HO Phase III...You must be kidding !!! For that Money I could buy a New Honda CBR600RR Motorcycle , A Boat , A Holiday or 6 ,A Mustang...and still have enough change for a deposit on a house ...All I can say is 'Out of control'!!!

Re: XR to XB GT ... A big con ???

There's a lot of baby boomers buying cars now that they couldn't afford in their youth which isn't helping prices.

After what's happened to property prices during the same period there's also a lot of guys refinancing their homes to get a GT.

I wouldn't pay $100k+ for a XYHO but that's what it takes to even get a ratty one now. Ford stopped making them over 30 years ago so they're worth what ever people are willing to pay.

Mustangs are ok, but I'd take a GT over one any day :)

Yeah the only "cheap" Gt's going around are the XT Gt's ... hard to find but seem to be the cheapest of an expensive lot

*drools* classic ford

I dont think i need to say much more.. except for maybe, the only reason that the prices of Phase III and others are so high is simple, there is too high of a demand for them, and not enough supply. Hell i saw a replica Phase III for sale for $28G !! For a REPLICA!

I do agree the prices are a little high, but you can always buy a shyte one, and restore it. IMO a much more satisfying experience that buying one thats ready to go.

Ok, that was a little more than a little bit.

If I had the money, I would pay that much for a HO, atleast it's value goes up and not down like a new Falcon.

You can say that again!!!

I remember looking for XA GT's back in '89 and you could get an average one for $7,000 and a immaculate one for $10,000.
Now you be lucky to find an immaculate one for less than $20,000.

Just like land, as long as there is people who will pay the high prices they just keep putting them up higher and higher.

Would we be having this conversation if we "had the money"?

The only thing i can see that could damper the price craze is the elimination of Leaded petrol, which i hear isnt that far away.

Leaded petrol has been gone for a while now. Most celvo's these days only drink Premium Unleaded :)
