confused 1988 F350 with 460

Hello All,

I have a dual tank set up and on the frame rail ahead of the tanks is a valve assembly.

This is a non-electrical component and supposedly aids in fuel supply from the tanks to the high pressure pump.

My question is, has anyone experienced not being able to use fuel from the front tank, even when the fuel pump in the tank is running?

And, could it be this valve assembly?

I can switch tanks, the gauge shows the fuel in the tank the switch is on, and the fuel is not used at all.

Thanks in advance.

Is there a valve assembly for each tank? If not, are there two lines coming out the front or only one? If there are two valve assemblies, try the rear tank's valve on the front tank. If there is only one assembly, try connecting the front tank where the rear tank is connected and see if it works then. If it works with either configuration, replace the valve assembly. If it doesn't, then that's likely not your culprit.

Thanks,

I'll try switching them.

There is only one valve assembly.

I'll let you know how I make out.

I just checked wether the pump in the front tank is actually working. It is not. I took it in to a shop last year and they were supposed to fix it. Now it looks like i'll have to take the tank out. maybe i'll check for broken wires before i do?
