429 / 460 - Getting Started

Hi Guys,

I am a new member. I have been reading for a while, but have only had cause to join in the last few days.

Could I get some insight from you.

I am from Central West NSW (Australia), and I recently stumbled across a cheap 385 series 460ci motor with a C6 attached, which I couldn't refuse. These engines are rare out here as is the tech. know how.

I own an Australian made 1972 XA Ford Falcon Coupe (project Car) which runs a 351 Cleveland with an FMX transmission.

My plan is to rebuild the 460 as a normally aspirated, mild to med, stroked motor, (purely as a street car), and drop it and the C6 into the Falcon. Ideally it would be great to finish with a torquey 450 to 500 HP sleeper. (This might be a lttle ambitious).

I have bought the motor, which I expect to be in a reasonable state of repair given the source. (It has not yet arrived). However, as some of the other Aussies who patronise this site have indicated - resources / information / good quality guidance, etc - for BBF engines is hard to find out here.

Despite having some experience with 302 and 351 Cleveland engines, I am purely a beginner when it comes to BBF's. Are there any technical resources (online / hard literature / books / workshop manuals) you can recomend, that will get me started on the right track ?

IE: I don't just want to rebuild this engine, I would like to make it an aesthetically pleasing addition to the project which performs well. Thus I am expecting to have to source aftermarket / modified componentry from various resellers most of which I expect will come out of the states - due to the lack of hardware out here.
